Equine Nutrition Knowledge
Here you will find real world information backed by up to date research.
Below is a range of blog topics and webinar recordings.
1
Evolution vs modern management
Your horse’s genetic evolution has produced a metabolism that thrives on high fibre forage-based diets with careful nutrient ratios.
However, aspects of our modern management of horses has led to incorrect feeding or incorrect use of grain based feeds, access to energy dense grasses, and a rise in metabolic health issues. Our horses no longer spend all day walking in search of forage and very often have reduced exercise. Because of these factors, carefully balanced, forage-based feeding is vitally important to enable our horses to lead longer healthy lives.
2
unlimited feed options mean making the right choice is difficult
Does your horse suffer from problems like poor performance, skin reactions, bad hooves, scours and gut problems, laminitis?
Many unbalanced feeds and supplements come with cheap fillers, sugars & additives. These can upset your horses gut microbes. Many horses may find it difficult to metabolise these which leads to health issues.
3
balance is key
The well balanced diet by a nutritionist will provide a feed system that is very carefully designed to provide the essential nutrients your horse needs for energy, growth, body maintenance and repair.
This will provide your horse’s body with preventative nutrition that comes with a beneficial diet as well as herbal remedies to treat illness and injury.
4
